Construction of the National Autism Center of Georgia has begun!
On April 2, 2019 the Autism Research and Support Foundation announced the start of the construction of the National Autism Center of Georgia. The complex will serve the individuals with autistic spectrum disorder over 16 and help them to obtain new skills, get employed and live the full life. Georgia will be the first country in the region to launch such a complex center for autistic adolescents and adults.
The presentation was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze, along with the Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze, the members of the Georgian Government, ambassadors of several European countries and representatives of commercial structures engaged in the project. Representatives of the Autism Research and Support Foundation presented structure of the future center and expressed thanks to international organizations, governmental and commercial structures for their contributions.
According to the Prime Minister, it is symbolic that Georgia launches the construction of the National Center on World Autism Awareness Day. Mamuka Bakhtadze thanked everyone who, over the past decades, have participated in the introduction of services necessary for the development of children and adults with autism.
“I would like to express immense gratitude to the private sector representatives who are actively engaged in this cause of national importance. I urge other companies and Georgian entrepreneurs alike to be more active in this regard. I firmly believe that the National Autism Center will make a tremendous difference in the lives of persons with autism spectrum disorder and in their social integration,” Prime Minister emphasized.
The Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze spoke about the support, shown by the City Hall in terms of carrying out the project, stating that 2 hectares of the plot of land have been allocated for its implementation by the City Hall.
